Infertility Treatment With IVF

IVF, one of the most important modes of treating infertility follows a series of steps. Read on for understanding the various ways in which professionals and medical experts take care of the fertility woes of childless couples and help them produce increased numbers of eggs for better rates of success.

Fertility drugs
In most cases, health care experts prescribe fertility drugs to develop a higher percentage of mature eggs--which are ready for fertilization and stimulate the ovaries of the patient. In general parlance, a single egg is released in every menstrual cycle. However, the odds of conception become better with an increase in the number of mature eggs (which are ready for fertilization).

Increasing the chances of conception with fertility drugs is known as down-regulation and necessitates the presence of gonadotrophin-releasing hormones and analogues (pituitary agonists) which suppress/ stop the cycle. Some shorter fertility drug cycles require the intake of GnRH antagonists as well.
Hormone injections

Some IVF treatment processes require the administration of have daily hormone injections which continue for up to 12 days. These injections stimulate the ovaries and help them release a higher number of mature eggs than in usual cases. (ovulation induction).

The hormones used for the purpose are luteinising hormone (LH) and gonadotrophins follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).

These injections have varying side effects and results in different women. It is very important to keep a close watch on the impact of these hormone stimulating injections and take future steps accordingly. Doctors generally prescribe Ultrasound scans and/or blood hormone tests to analyze how well patient’s eggs are responding to treatment. These tests are done to ensure safety and make sure that the eggs are mature for fertilization.

Sperm collection and Egg Retrieval

This mode of IVF treatment requires an ultrasound to detect when the eggs are ready for retrieval. The eggs are removed under lab based conditions with the help of a fine, hollow needle attached to an ultrasound scan probing tool. This helps in locating the follicles which contain the eggs. The process can cause mild discomfiture which can be alleviated with the help of painkillers.

While the process of egg retrieval is going on, the partner is asked to provide a fresh sample of his semen. In case donated/frozen sperms are used, the sample is retrieved from the freezer and is washed to retrieve the best quality sperms. These are then extracted to fertilize the egg. The sperm is then combined with the mature egg in a petri-dish and left to fertilize in an incubator. Once an egg is fertilized, it is implanted into the uterus. Clinics and centers for Best ivf surrogacy go a long way in treating infertility woes and taking care of the issues involved with delayed conception and pregnancy.
